Some “Deen” to talk about

Have any of you caught some of the news about Paula Deen and the her big reveal about having diabetes? I have.
I was watching some news source yesterday, I honestly don’t remember which one, and they were going on and on about how she should have told everyone when she found out and how it’s not right for her to go on cooking her typical butter and sugar filled food.
After hearing this I felt the need to comment about my thoughts.

I realize that Paula is a public figure but she is still her own person. She has spent years (a lot longer than she has had diabetes) perfecting her brand. Honestly, who wants to watch Paula Deen cook heart healthy, it’s not her unless it has a least one stick of butter and a cup of sugar to boot. As for her disclosing her illness, last time I checked you medical records were privy information and if you don’t feel the need to share them, you don’t have too.
As to her becoming a representative for her diabetes medication, there are many other celebrity spokesperson for different diabetes medications and services and no one is hounding them about what their diet is or how they cook. No one cares!
I have watched Paula’s show on many occasions and never have I heard her say, “if your diabetic, you should make this recipe.” How about you? If she does eat like that and smoke every day that is her choice.
Should Paula Deen be accountable for showing all these rich, fatty recipes since she is diabetic? Maybe, but only to herself. If she wants to eat those foods and put herself into an early grave that’s her prerogative. I don’t believe she eats that food daily, the shows not called Everyday Meals.
For those of you that are diabetic I hope you agree that you should know what you should or shouldn’t eat. So if you see Paula make something with two sticks of butter and three cups of sugar you can say,“guess I’m not making that.”
This post is pure opinion and was not meant to insult anyone in anyway. I respect that many people will not agree with me. I just wanted a chance to get my two cents in. Thanks for reading!

"Black Out" Wednesday

I found an article that I think you may find worth the read. Stephanie Condon, a CBS reporter is talking about the effects of SOPA/PIPA legislation. I think the article is informative and relatively non-biased. It takes a look at the advantages and disadvantages of the bill without really placing an opinion. Check it out http://bit.ly/vZ3Ox5.

Major US Web based companies protest SOPA/PIPA Legislation

Personally, I think the legislation is going too far. I am a big fan of personal responsibility.  Where do we draw the line? How many things need to be regulated before we just put our hands up and say, “okay Uncle Sam, you tell me what to do and what not to.”I’m really not trying to be controversial but sometimes I think a good strong opinion is good for the soul.
SOPA/PIPA is an attempt at controlling the massive amount of foreign “rogue” sites, which there are many of. Forcing U.S. sites to control who is accessing and pushing content through their sites may not sound like too much to ask, and for sites like Google, it’s probably not. For smaller internet businesses and start-ups the cost of protecting their sites could easily be too much for the companies to bear (Condon, 2012).  This legislation could possibly open up the entire World Wide Web to the usual frivolously lawsuits in our “sue” happy society.
I could go on and on (I’m a little opinionated!)
I just wanted a chance to voice my opinion on the subject, let me know what you think!
What’s your opinion about the new legislation, vote now! ------>------->-------->-------->------->

So this is blogging...

For the first post to my blog… “my blog” that seems strange to me even though I’m posting right now. I would like to begin by introducing myself,
My names is Courtney C, I am a stay at home mom of two wonderful boys, James and Lucas. If you were wondering why I called my blog Where’s My Motrin?, that’s it. My boys may be the joy of my life but they definitely have a knack for giving Mommy a headache more often then not.
But, I digress, I was introducing myself. I am also a full time student, one semester away from receiving my BBA in Marketing from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration. I know it’s a mouthful, so for future mention we’ll just call it Walsh.
I will have been married six years this May. My boys are 6 and 14 months so my children have always been a part of my marriage. With such a big age gap between them I get to experience completely different milestones simultaneously.

James Ryan(6) is in first grade and learning something new every day. He has been learning to read this year, which I of course try to help him with. After working through a single page, I can honestly say I have no idea how I ever learned to read! More on this in the future.
Lucas Patrick (1) is my little troublemaker. I know I shouldn’t but I call him humungo baby. At 12 months he was 31 ½ inches tall and just over 26lbs which according to the doctor is in the 96th percentile. He is a perfectly wonderful healthy little toddler, well, not so little. The only problem with him being so big is that he can do things that most kids can’t at his age, for instance reaching the kitchen counters, taking things off the dining room table, and climbing and standing on the coffee table. At least with James by the time he was able to do those things he was old enough to understand that standing on tables was not the best idea.
I realize this post has been a little long winded but I hope this helps you know and understand me a little bit better.
